And then the clean one:
I am at the moment using Crunchbang Linux 9.04 on my boyfriend’s laptop (Acer Extensa 5220, very nice non shiny screen :D). Made there a little partition for myself (10GB). The other operating system in the machine is Ubuntu 9.10. I wasn’t going to tweak that much this time, because you’d think I have better things to do when I am on holiday. :P But clearly I don’t have so this is the result. I’m just little mad at myself that I didn’t make backup of my .pekwm folder.

- Pekwm (“Bars” – not ready) and GTK theme (modified Turquoise Grass) by me.

- Fonts: BD Billding and Andale Mono.
And Happy New Year 2010 for everyone! :D

Your desktop is very nice! I have a feeling I wouldn’t know how to use your computer, though. :P

I’m very glad that you take the time to not only make nice screen and screenshot, but that you also include what applications are running.
This is the second time in as many days that some one has mentioned using ncmpc++ (ncmpcpp in my distro), and I must say that is quite a nice improvement over some the previous MPD clients I’ve used.

@jezra: I agree about the ncmpc++ (ncpmcpp), differences aren’t that big compared for example the original ncmpc but definitely make it better. Only thing I can complain is the management of colours which I think is better in ncmpc, but it’s not that big deal that it would stop me using it.
@Aisling: I’m sure you would learn it fast. :)

I seem to recall at one point using a screenshot utility that would automatically ad in the reflection in the bottom of the image for you, but I can’t recall which one it is. Does the screenshot utility that you are using automatically add the reflection in the bottom of the image? If so, what are you using?
I like the theme, font, and .conkyrc file that you have shared with us. I really enjoy using both OpenBox and PekWM, and it’s always nice to see someone else who appreciates a simple, sleek interface. Thank you for posting.

I am using just Scrot which as far as I know doesn’t have such feature. I make reflections in gimp afterwards. I did little searching though and found Shutter which can add reflection (and apparently many other things).

As always beautiful desktop. You really have a great taste to arrange dark themes, and I always find some ideas for my own desktop. Thank you for sharing and looking forward for more great desktops .)

@Hanna, I see that you have specified the following in your .conkyrc file:
# Update interval in seconds
update_interval 1
However, my weather rss feeds are not updating without restarting conky (restarting it each time I want to update the feed). I have searched Google for an alternate method of refreshing conky but everything seems to indicate that the update_interval is what I am looking for. Is there something that I am missing somewhere that will refresh conky at a regular interval?
Also, thank you for the information about Shutter; I’ll check it out.
Thanks!

@Darrin: I have set my weather feeds to update themselves every 60 min (default is 15 min). And you can do it in the rss variable (more about the options in conky variables page.
${rss source_of_the_feed 60 item_titles 1}I hope this helps. :)
EDIT // I actually started thinking could be something to do with accuweather’s feed… because when I was using rssWeather it definitely worked and now I have become little skeptic after following the feed whole day. :/
@Nico: Thank you. :)
