Jan07 ncmpcpp config

I thought I could share my ncmpcpp config file with you. Ncmpcpp (also ncmpc++) is console client for MPD, and it bases on ncmpc. MPD can be bit difficult to set up at first but I think it has been the best music playing app for me (even though I use it only in this one computer) with moc.

If you are new for MPD in general, I recommend reading this guide about installing and configuring it.

Jun03 Rathole Radio

This entry isn’t exactly about Linux, but hey, Dan Lynch who hosts Rathole Radio is other part of Linux Outlaws -podcast. So yeah I just wanted to mention that if you are interested to find new music an listen to one guy from UK blabbering weird stuff between the songs (including “erm” every couple seconds, but I’m sure it’ll get better ;)), Rathole Radio -podcast is definitely worth of checking. :)

May17 CD/DVD Drive and Anger Management

I’m complaining… and this rant probably has nothing to do with Linux, it’s probably just hardware related. I own Compaq Evo that has CD/DVD drive, more precisely LG‘s HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4320B. And it reads most of the CDs, even the older ones that my laptop’s drive didn’t read. But it doesn’t read DVDs nor certain CDs. It makes stupid exception with Depeche Mode‘s remastered collectors editions that include CD+DVD (2006), but it has no problems reading remastered collectors edition that includes only the CD. Only difference I have noticed between these CDs is the colour. Other one is silvery and other one is bit goldish.

…Well actually, I think I just realised what is the problem. Some Great Reward is normal CD and Volator and Playing the Angel are SACDs so I guess What’s the point of this SACD anyway, I don’t want bells and whistles, I just want to listen to good music. That doesn’t really explain why damn drive doesn’t play DVDs though.
